The Beacon is a free tabloid-sized newspaper with more than 5,000 readers that publishes 10 times a year in print and digital formats. First published in 1978, it is one of the longest-running community newspapers in Canada. As a not-for-profit run entirely by volunteers, we depend on your ad dollars and support to continue. We cover the communities of Eastern Passage, Cow Bay, and Shearwater, Nova Scotia.
